Continuity Training
Read these two passages through carefully then answer the questions underneath.
Passage One
John looked out the window and realised it was raining, so picked up his red and blue umbrella before going outside for his walk.
As he wandered down Crescent Close, he noticed that there was a rainbow overhead and, on close inspection, another rainbow nested inside the first one.
At the bottom of the close he paused as a yellow car went left to right along the main road. He then crossed over and continued his walk to the post box.
Once he reached the post box, he put the brown envelope in the post box before checking the collection time, turning round and walking home.
Passage Two
John looked out the window and realised it was raining, so picked up his red and green umbrella before going outside for his walk.
As he wandered down Crescent Avenue, he noticed that there was a rainbow overhead and, on close inspection, another rainbow nested inside the first one.
At the bottom of the avenue he paused as a yellow car went right to left along the main road. He then crossed over and continued his walk to the post box.
Once he reached the post box, he put the white envelope in the post box before checking the collection time, turning round and walking home.
Questions
There are four continuity differences between the two passages, where details about John's journey to the postbox differ. What are these four differences?
Once you have written down what you think the four differences are, go back to the passages and see if you are correct.
